Welcome to my heaven on earth—take 8 “Rest for the Soul”
Moments on Leland Pond is where I feel close to God, the wonder of all He has to offer.
Welcome to September, it’s been a month since we connected on the pond. As I reflect on the past month—life has unfolded into an emotional rollercoaster. Our 91-year Aunt has early signs of dementia. She is a remarkable lady, beautiful inside and out.
She made the decision that she should not drive anymore for the safety of others. This truly is a great choice as two weeks ago, she shared that she could not remember how to pump gas. But her biggest decision was to give up her home sweet home. The home that holds a lifetime of memories, cherished photos, cookbooks, antiques, her security and more.
Never being married herself or having children of her own, she refused to burden family with her end-of-life care. Aunty planned for this day. She has lawyers and caretakers—all mapped out. I think to myself will I be as orchestrated as she. Not having children of my own. Even with this chose, she shares with me while we move her in, “Wendy I am sad, but I refuse to be nothing but positive today.”
These weeks have been emotional for her and us. Then today something beautiful happens, Jesus, reminded me—the importance of rest for the soul.
How you ask? A habit that I try to keep is opening my Bible App and reading the guided prayer before the day begins. I love to begin with the Start the Conversation with God section—and something very special happens, September 14 opens with.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
PSALM 23:1-2 KJV
with the caption “You belong to God who wants you to find rest.”
Then I opened my email to this email from Aaron Joseph Hall asking how often you rest? with this block quote.
“Come to me all, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load not hard to carry.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NET
Hum, the wonder of it all.
Yesterday was filled with quiet waters, peaceful photos—and that amazing grace that fills the soul as you listen to the sounds of nature. Thank you for allowing me to share, and may you find rest for your soul.
Hope you enjoyed a few Moments on Leland Pond. My time to try and let go and let God handle all my cares.
God bless you and yours with lovingkindness.
Enjoy 💕!

I'm always in awe of how beautifully your words and inspiration flow. While you don't have children of your own, you, like Aunt Betty is surrounded and loved by your nieces and sister who will be by your side through all walks of life. Forever blessed to have you. Love you and thanks for the words of reflection. ❤️🥰
