A seed's journey—week 4 update, Friday, June 14th. Pine mulch is your garden’s best friend.
Our garden to table creations begins with a seed.
Hi, welcome back, we are a month in, week 4-Friday, June 14th. Last post we had Peter Cotton-Tail Jr. scoping out the free salad bar at Wendy’s Kitchen. This week we have black beans joining the vegetable scene, the cantaloupe is back, kale, Rainbow Swiss Chard, herbs all are growing. It’s a feel-good week, smile. Are you smiling!

Welcome to our new subscribers and followers we are thrilled you are curious and have selected our growing community. My passion for garden to table creations, comes from my passion to grow and nurture plants. I believe it’s an incredible experience to watch a seed grow into something delicious to eat! God’s gift.

June 14: I read a post this week that I really enjoyed by
the post’s name is Your Best Horse Relationship, I was drawn to it because of my love for horses. As a child I owned a horse and did competitive trail riding in 4H, that was many moons ago. To my delight he quoted someone about confidence. If you so desire, you can listen to his video posted in his short post. I won’t steal Darin’s thunder, it’s his to share. But what I will say—is confidence, the meaning really is more about our ability to be okay with not being perfect! This fits perfectly into this week’s post—why, because I have never mulched my garden before, grin. And I didn’t even know if this mulch would work. It just so happens to be, that “Pine Mulch” breaks down easily, and over time will help your soil quality, just ask AIGardenPlanner Pros & Cons to Pine Mulch. Who knew! Thank you, Darin, for allowing me to just do it with confidence.Pictures of what’s thriving this week.
This week we have black beans finally saying hello. This is my second time this season planting seeds. The first I believe the weather was too cold to germinate. We had a very cool, hot, strange spring. In fact, all the pictures below are the second time around—Rainbow Swiss Chard coming soon, Kale is kale, and Cantaloupe is her name. Herbs are doing well too, parsley, cilantro and oregano. In a few weeks I will thin the plants, so they have an opportunity to grow nice and strong.
That’s it for this week in our seed’s journey. Tune in next week for another garden adventure. Spread the word if you like. Come have fun in the garden!
Or just enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with me!
Thank you for spending a few minutes with Wendy’s Kitchen, I know how busy life can be. We so appreciate you choosing me, smile.
God bless you with lovingkindness.
Until we meet again, enjoy!
Wendy
I can smell the photos!
Really enjoying these. I love the before and after in one week. And since I have never grown these things, I like learning what they look like just coming out of the ground.
