My 2024 Garden Season (wk. 8)
A seed's journey—week 8 update, Friday, July 12th. We have squash, kale, rainbow chard, 2 kinds of peppers, dill, basil, cilantro, new additions, horror larva and a cute new friend, grin.
It all begins with a seed. Or a horror moth emerging from a winter slumber—who knew!
Hi, welcome back, we are 2 months in, week 8-Friday, July 12. We now have Peter Cotton-Tail Jr.’s grandchild taking up residence in the bean crop. A moth from a horror picture film, that emerges from the ground to build their next generation in the local squash stem. Thank you, Sara, for altering me to squash vine borer.
Wait—we have great news too! One month ago, all the plants were just peeking through, and today we are enjoying their bounty. Fresh picked Hungarian Hot Wax peppers, a long hot which is a huge surprise because I thought the plant was a cubanelle, and I love long hot peppers. Fresh dill, I gifted to a friend. Basil and cilantro growing like a weed. My beefsteak tomato plant is so large I need two cages to keep it from falling over.
