Hi - welcome back. I am sitting on my front porch - not with a blanket this time, as it’s a beautiful 81 degrees F, smile. As I moseyed around the yard, enjoying flowers, watering the garden and the potted plants, I thought it might be fun to post about what’s blooming in the yard. I do try to share on Notes but realize that 70% of my readers are enjoying Wendy’s Kitchen stories through email. Love that and thank you for your engagement. Oh - did I mention that we have 98 subscribers! It’s wonderful.
What are Notes? you ask. It’s a conversation thread that is quick, short and in the moment share, where individuals post “What’s on their mind?”. Like the copy of my latest note “Color me purple”. I don’t know what to compare it to as I am not on Facebook. I do have a LinkedIn profile, where there are over 1K followers from my previous gig. If you are curious this is my life before you. I am truly feeling the freedom of self-expression, never felt I could do that comfortably in the corporate culture. You can love, comment and restack someone’s Notes. A restack is very helpful it puts us on top so more people can enjoy! Thank you for all those who restack.
Welcome to new subscribers, it is so beautiful to have you join us. We are a growing community and I truly appreciate the interest you have in me. I also get to grow with you - so lovely and enjoyable. We can chat privately with each other, if you wish, never any pressure. It’s about enjoying and learning from each other.
What’s a Flower to You?
Back to What’s a Flower to You? To me it’s God’s glory, something beautiful to look at, brings light in a dark day, smile and makes me happy. What does it mean to you?
What’s blooming in the yard?
As we walk through the side gate, you will see miss Clematis, she is almost in full bloom. Stunning, wouldn’t you agree. I have a white variety and a purple (the purple is the first one I planted, not sure where the white originated from), but what I do know is, if I just leave them alone - they reward me with amazing blooms. Clematis bloom on old wood, or at least these two do, I learned that lesson 20 years ago, when I cut all the dead looking wood down, no blooms that year. A reader asked what kind of Clematis is that white one? I am not quite sure - possibly a Candida Clematis? Maybe another reader knows? I know she does like her root’s cooler, so the sidewalk and fence are just a perfect spot. My garden philosophy is simple - if it grows - keep it, let it be happy where it is. I have many plants that just reappeared in a new location, grin. I think - okey, be happy where you choose little one, whom am I to say, smile.
I also have Purple Bearded Irises beginning to bloom. The picture below is from a plant gifted to us two years ago, it took 2 years to establish itself and this is her first bloom. I have two other gorgeous clusters in the yard, when they bloom, I will share. These later irises were also a gift from a friend weeding her garden out. Thank you for an amazing gift. We gift plants to others too. It’s a nice way to spread the love. In fact, many of my plants are sisters of someone else’s garden.
And let’s not forget the other purple or let’s call her a fuchsia, my amazing Grandma (I gave her the name Grandma) of a Rhododendron. I just love love her. She never fails to give us a showy and loud bloom. She was here long before me, over 30 years old. One-night years ago, young girls were walking by, and they tried to pick one of her blooms - it didn’t work out so well, they are strong and stubborn. Leave me where you found me, she is shouting loud and strong.
My lilacs are on their way out - we did have some beautiful color but not all lilacs bloomed this year. Two things, spring was finicky - cold, bitter cold and hot, screaming hot - crazy. But the ones who did bloom were old, strong and faithful like these two a white and purple lilacs, both girls were here before us, and that is going on close to 30 years.
I do hope you enjoyed this walk in the garden. More to come as the yard moves through her growing season. Love to see what’s going on in your world.

That’s fitting for when I share my roses in bloom. I noticed tiny buds starting to peek through as we walked the yard.
My wish for you. Let Go and Let God, when I do, I feel wonderful moments begin to happen.
Love all your support and encouragement. My imperfect self. Until we meet again.
