My 2024 Garden Season (wk. 10 & 11)
A seed's journey—weeks 10 & 11 update, Friday, August 2nd. Two for one this week. Tomatoes ripen, purple peppers, and black beans join the scene.
Hi, I am Wendy—author of Wendy’s Kitchen & More—where I write about garden to table creations to inspire you to create something new. This is the “More” a story about the seeds journey of becoming a veggie, before it becomes the creation. Glad you are here! 💕
Garden creations—it’s all about the tomatoes & peppers.
Hi, did you miss me? I can’t believe that we are already at week 11, Friday, August 2nd. Where did June and July go? Flies bye when you are enjoying the sun. And yes, it’s been sun, sun, and more sun. Not complaining, but it does put a bit of stress on growing plants. We are not here most weekends, and although I soak the garden, it does feel the effects of multiple days in the high 80-90’s.
What’s bathing in the heat and loving it are the tomatoes, peppers and sunflowers (no surprise there). The acorn squash and eggplants—remember my $1 farmstand, got to have find. Well, they are still hanging around but are like—jeeze this lady never waters us, smile. We are thirsty!
Week 10 was all about the first tomato harvest, enjoyed some delicious fun creations, and more on the way. Week 11 brings a new pepper into the mix—I was so curious about the purple flower—turns out it might be a purple cayenne pepper, yeah—beyond thrilled.

There is something special about planting a seed and watching it grow into something delicious to eat. I believe it’s God’s gift.
Week 10–Tomatoes
Thank you to
for the recommendation of a mayo and tomato sandwich. It was delicious. Holly, I love tomato sandwiches it’s my go to in the summer. Nothing better than a fresh tomato ripe from the vine.Week 11–Garden Highlights
We have purple flowers delighting us with black beans and purple cayenne peppers. Sunflowers are growing along with weeds, smile. Weeds also crash the party. Cilantro is flowering, which will produce coriander seeds. Basil is doing its job at bushing out, currently drying some for this winter.
That’s it for this week. See you in week 12 for another garden tale. Spread the word if you like. Come and enjoy a little garden fun!
Or just enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with me!
God bless you with lovingkindness.
Take a trip to a Farmer’s Market, you will be glad you did.
Enjoy 💕and thank you for spending your precious day with me.

Wendy- I appreciate this refreshing look at your harvest. Those green tomatoes are really something. Hope you're well this week. Cheers, -Thalia
You’ve inspired me to try to get to the farmers market to get some juicy tomatoes like that? Yum. He did a great job growing them.
