My 2024 Garden Season (wk. 9)
A seed's journey—week 9 update, Friday, July 19th. This week is about starting over, being grateful and enjoying a friend’s bumper crop of cucumbers.
Garden creations all begin with a seed, and more seeds.
Hi, welcome back, times a flying—we are at week 9-Friday, July 19th. What a week in Upstate, New York. We had severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings, and an actual tornado with devastating damage 15-miles from my home. What’s going on with our weather these days? My heart and prayers go out to all the families that were impacted by the tornado.
The garden experienced some damage and loss, nothing that can’t be fixed or be grateful for what’s remaining. Life’s wonderful like that; it will bring a raging storm and 15-minutes later the sun will appear after the doom & gloom—a reminder life continues on.
Today, is Friday as I write this story, the weather is picture perfect 74℉, low humidity, and sun shining. Faith and hope—life continues.

Welcome to our new subscribers thrilled you are curious—glad you stayed. There is something special about planting a seed and watching it grow into something delicious to eat. I believe it’s God’s gift.
Storm and Sun
We lost the squash plants, mostly because they were already weak from the squash vine bores. What a terrible disgusting creature. The good news is, after speaking with a neighbor friend, and a little YouTubing—I learned the best way to combat these insects organically is to just replant a second batch of squash. Apparently, these nasty moths only appear in the early summer. Good to know.
The tomatoes are grateful for the sun, growing like weeds, along with my hot peppers—they are exploding into hot, delicious, good eats. Next week I am hopeful to begin canning them for winter.
Best news yet, I gifted a friend a bountiful crop of dill. In return he gave me 8 quarts of pickling cucumbers. Life doesn’t get any better than that, well for me anyways, smile.
Highlights of week 9.
That’s it for this week. See you in week 10 for another garden tale. Spread the word if you like. Come and enjoy a little garden time!
Or just enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with me!
God bless you with lovingkindness.
Take a trip to a Farmer’s Market, you will be glad you did.
Enjoy 💕!
