So enjoyed this. I have a pair of morehens that came near my deck twice a day for food. At first, I gave them food from my parrot that had died. When that ran out I bought floating wild bird food that doesn’t sink. The birds would eat, and then I could count at least three turtles. One was a snapper. The three of them would be the clean up crew. The morehens were so used to me if I was late going out they would come up on the deck and make noise. We had a tremendous rain over a month ago. The morehens must have gone to higher ground. Now whenever I go out and stand on the deck the turtles come looking for food. I call them the three amigos.

A really beautiful experience Wendy. Snapping Turtles are such an interesting creature to encounter. I too like that symbolism about them of patience, wisdom and perseverance. I have been fortunate to encounter Snapping Turtles several times on my Nature hikes at my local conservation area. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Monica. How lucky those morehens are to have you to look out for them. Isn’t it funny how nature gets along. I love that you named the 3 turtles the three amigos. There’s something comforting about watching nature and interacting with it. Thanks for sharing and reading. Sorry to read the loss of your parrot too.
